QUARTZITES OF THE TOVKACHIV SUITE OF THE LATE PROTEROZOIC OF THE OVRUCH AND TOVKACHIV DEPOSITS ARE AN UNIQUE OBJECT FOR INDUSTRY, SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, EVERYDAY LIFE AND GEOLOGICAL HERITAGE

Information about the geological and tectonic structure of the Ovruch and Tovkachiv quartzite deposits is presented. Attention is focused on the uniqueness of the quartzites of the Tovkachiv Formation of the Ovruch series of the Late Proterozoic age, the deposits of which are developed by the open-pit method in the town. It is proposed to classify the quartzite section, which was discovered by quarries, after working off the mineral reserves, as objects of geological heritage. Based on the analysis of time-varying satellite images, the change in the area of two quartzite quarries and four water bodies near them was studied. The dynamics of the change in area and its trend during 1989-2020 were clarified.
