Optimizing pipeline and pump design to maintain efficiency
2004
Designing pipelines for transportation has moved well away from the drawing board and rule-of-thumb estimations, and engineers and suppliers are now turning to the latest computer analysis and simulation software to determine the most cost-efficient way to pump solids-entrained liquids. However, many question the accuracy of computer-aided design and therefore its potential to be of any real economic value. Roger Lindley investigates.
