BINDING OF ELECTRONS TO THE SURFACE OF LIQUID HELIUM

A Hartree-type of effective potential is derived for an excess electron near the helium liquid-vapor interface. The surface-state eigenvalaue spectrum is thus calculated. Results obtained for both [sup 4]He (with an experimental interface profile) and [sup 3]He (with a theoretical profile) are in reasonable agreement with experimental data.
