Characterizing the vadose zone transport dynamics by using a multi-method hydrogeophysical approach

Summary The objective of the O-ZNS project is to understand contaminant transport processes and parameterize reactive transport models. For this purpose, we propose to set up a hydrogeophysical methodology to characterize the heterogeneity of the unsaturated zone of the Beauce carbonates. We present here our recent results and show the geophysical methods used in this project as well as the perspectives of this work. The results showed a strong correlation between the different geophysical and geotechnical methods and highlighted the presence of heterogeneities that can have profound effects on transport dynamics
