This essay is an initial approach to the art market and its relation to the patrimonial notion, understanding this relationship as a rather complex system, with elements that are questionable. However, the idea of modern artistic consecration and the experiences in local museums in Merida put on discussion elements that are rarely addressed in this reflection. The assessment made in this text is a reflection, not a solution, since it is considered, for further questioning, that buying art is to own a material and immaterial heritage. Given this set of characteristics, indecipherable to the reality of the market, and the extension of this document, the objective is to introduce topics, reflections and opinions that should be considered in the discussion, since, on the one hand, buyers are in possession of forms of heritage, and on the other, artists play something very important when entering the market, their artistic life.
