Local authority parking enforcement, defining quality-raising standards

Public attitudes to decriminalised enforcement of parking regulations in cities in the UK are discussed. These attitudes have often been very negative and the difficulties in maintaining public support for the enforcementof the regulations are considered. Defining quality in parking enforcement, dimensions of quality in parking enforcement, parking attendants, stafftraining and working conditions, parking shops, payment methods, and measurement of quality in parking enforcement are considered. A list of actions local authorities can take is included in the conclusions.
