Phase Conjugation in a Time-Switched Slab

2021
Time-varying media have been a platform for many extraordinary wave phenomena. Here we show the possibility of efficient phase conjugation using a time-switched slab cavity. The temporal boundary conditions and the phase conjugation efficiency are derived in the context of quasi-normal modes. As a proof-of-concept, we numerically demonstrate unitary phase conjugation by properly switching the permittivity of the slab. Explorations on switching the cavity boundary instead of the entire medium will be discussed in the presentation, which may benefit more practical applications such as holography and frequency generation.
