Variability in Morphological, Colony Diameter and Cultural Characteristics of Fusarium Oxysporumf. SP. LINI Causing Wilt of Linseed

2010
An experiment was carried out to study the variability using six different isolates of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lini Pure culture of six isolates (Fol-1 to Fol-6) were prepared to study the variation in morphological (size and shape of macroconidia and microconidia), colony diameter and cultural characters. Isolate Fol-6 was observed as fast growing (82mm) while remaining isolates showed moderate mycelial growth ranging from 71.6mm-78.7mm. Minimum average length was observed in the isolate Fol-5, while the maximum average length was observed in the isolate Foil. Isolates Fol-2 and Fol-5 produced a large number of microconidia, while remaining isolates produced a less number of microconidia. The variability pathogenicity of isolated fungus Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lini was tested by two methods: Soil infestation method and TestHtube method.
