Helical CuICuII3 Metallocavitands with Sulfur‐Containing Schiff Base Ligands Exhibiting Ferromagnetic or Antiferromagnetic Interactions
2016
A unique example of self-assembly of chiral sulfur-containing Schiff base ligands (SBLs) into a mixed-valent metallocavitand is reported. A tetranuclear complex with one CuI and three CuII ions bridged by three sulfur-containing SBLs was obtained, in which connected CuIINO2S and CuIS3 planes form a CuICuII3 metallocavitand hosting a trialkylammonium cation in its chiral cavity. The ferro- or antiferromagnetic interactions in the complexes can be tuned by changing a substituent on the SBL.
