Energy-Efficient Fuzzy Geocast Routing Protocol for Opportunistic Networks.

2021
This paper proposes an energy-efficient version of our recently proposed Fuzzy-based Check-and-Spray Geocast (FCSG) routing protocol (called EFCSG) for opportunistic networks (OppNets). The proposed EFCSG protocol utilizes the Mamdani fuzzy econtroller along with fuzzy attributes such as node’s residual energy, buffer space, and movement to determine the relay nodes that are eligible to participate in the routing process. Through simulations using real mobility traces, EFCSG is shown to outperform the Energy Efficient Check-and-Spray Geocasting (EECSG), the Fuzzy Geocast Routing Protocol for OppNets (FCSG), and the Fuzzy Geocasting mechanism in OppNets (F-GSAF), in terms of delivery ratio, average latency, number of hop count, and overhead ratio, under varying Time-to-Live (TTL) and buffer size.
