Humanity is trans-specific selt-transcendent genus.

EnglishSince 6.5 millions of year ago humanity is progressed along a path that has led to the symbolic culture that permeates our current life. Although such a process has been lengthy (but relatively short considering evolutionary time) and compicated, we can find elements that connect the different stages of this evolution and allow us to call our ancestors "humans", although pertaining to different biological species. The most relevant common character that cuts across this whole evolution is the tendency to self-transcendence, i.e. the fact that our culture shows the so-called ratchet effect: it cumulates and therefore allows for further progresses. As a matter of fact, humanity has not been fixed once for all (even from a biological point of view) but finds itself still in evolution. Such a character is even stronger when dealing with the human brain and our mental capabilities. The relevance of this point of view for both philosophy and theology is shown. italianoDa 6,5 milioni di anni l'umanita ha progredito lungo un percorso che ha portato alla cultura simboica che permea la nostra vita attuale. Sebbene questo processo sia stato molto lungo (per se relativamente breve rispetto ai tempi evolutivi) e complicato, possiamo trovare elementi che connettono differenti stadi di questa evoluzione, e che ci permettono di chiamare "umani" i nostri predecessori, anche se appartenenti a specie biologiche differenti. Il carattere comune piu rilevante che taglia trasversalmente questa evoluzione e la tendenza allauto-trascendenza, vale a dire, il fatto che la nostra cultura mostra il cosiddetto "effetto scricchietto" (ratchet effect): la cultura e cumulativa e quindi permette sviluppi progressivi. Di fatto, l'umanita non e stata fissata una volta per tutte (neppure da un punto di vista biologico) ma si trova ancora in evoluzione. Questa caratteristica e persino maggiore riguardo al cervello e alle nostre capacita mentali. Verra anche mostrata la rilevanza di questo punto per la filosofia e la teologia.
