A new metabolite, 5-alpha-androstane-3,6,17-trione, was isolated as a product of microbial conversion of upgraded neutral fraction of the Polish tall oil byMycobacterium NRRL B-3683, NRRL B-3805, MB 3683, and MB 3805.
