Differential Effect of second-generation antipsychotic onprolactinemia: Initial 6 Weeks of Therapy

First versus repeated psychotic episodes were chracterized by significantly higher hyperprolactinemia. Among the tested second generation antipsychotics, amisulpride and risperidone had a marked prolactin elevating effect, requiring therefore more frequent monitoring of prolactinemia and the associated undesirable effects than quetiapine, zotepine and olanzapine.
