KISA in innovation of Australian software firms

2006
This paper discusses the critical role that activities directed to mix, match and transform knowledge-intensive services play in innovation by software firms. The paper draws on the analysis of the nature of innovation processes undertaken by Australian software firms; how businesses innovate and what role Knowledge Intensive Service Activities (KISA) play in the innovation process. The findings are based on an online survey of 54 software companies, 41 semi-structured interviews and two in-depth case studies with specialised software companies in the mining and tourism industries.
