Design and comissioning of a regenerative system for load testing

2018
This project aims to build and validate a regenerative system to perform loading test on loads connected to the grid such as, transformers, UPS, inverters, filters, etc. Therefore, it is presented a methodology to perform tests on loads utilizing a regenerative static converter (back-to-back). The use of this methodology allows the independent control of active and reactive power, on both flux directions, allowing automatic control of the load level and flexibility to the process. This paper presents the equipment utilized for the laboratory tests, the mathematical modeling of the system and the control strategy. The converter is controlled with the SVPWM in the synchronous rotating reference frame d-q, utilizing the dSPACE DS1103 board. This paper utilizes a power transformer as a load. In the end, the results of initial tests are presented.
