Investigation of friction characteristic of wet clutch transmission oil

A test method for evaluating the friction characteristic of wet clutch transmission oil is presented. This method combines the actual combination characteristic of the wet clutch to design the energy density increasing experiment, and the experiment parameters fit the actual working conditions of the clutch. The real clutch is adopted, and the friction characteristics of different oil are investigated by using Automax wet clutch test bench to truly reflect the performance of oil in the wet clutch. The results show that the method can distinguish oil with different friction characteristics effectively; the developed oil is superior to the reference oil in combination smoothness and bonding time; energy density has significant influence on the mid-point dynamic friction coefficient, end-point static friction coefficient and static-dynamic ratio in the combination process of friction pair; suitable lubricating oil should be selected reasonably according to the working condition of the transmission.
