Voruntersuchungen an einem schwefelfreien Odoriermittel. Diskussion

Gas industries intends to introduce a sulfur-free odorant for natural gas to keep sulfurdioxide emissions as small as possible. After a comprehensive pre-investigation (odour, analytical determination and stability) of sulfur-free components, a mixture of methylacrylate (37,4 mass-%), ethylacrylate (60,0 mass-%) and methylethylpyrazine (2,5 mass%) was chosen as sulfur-free odorant for natural gas and given to tests according to E DIN 30 651. Result of the tests was, that the sulfur-free odorant meets the basic requirements for use in mass dependent odorimeters. To enable practical use of the sulfur-free odorant, it necessary to investigate its odour intensity and sorption characteristics.
