Insight into magnetic properties and magnetocaloric effect in a Janus particle

2021
Abstract Based on the Monte Carlo simulation, the magnetic properties and magnetocaloric effect in a ferromagnetic Janus particle with mixed-spin (1/2, 1, 3/2) were systematically explored. The effects of the exchange couplings and the external magnetic field on the magnetization, magnetic susceptibility, internal energy and magnetic specific heat were invested in detail. Besides, we presented the isothermal magnetic entropy change and adiabatic temperature change as a function of temperature for various exchange couplings and the external magnetic field. It was found that the maximum values of the isothermal magnetic entropy change and adiabatic temperature change increase with decreasing the exchange couplings or increasing the external magnetic field. Finally, the impacts of the exchange couplings and the external magnetic field on the relative cooling power were also discussed.
