Physical and mechanical behaviour of a roller compacted concrete reinforced with polypropylene fiber

2017
In order to study the behaviour of a roller compacted concrete reinforced with polypropylene fiber, six types of RCC were made with different quantities of fibers (0, 500,1000,1500,2000 and 2500 g/m 3 ). The physical parameters are the density, the manoeuvrability, the shrinkage and the absorption of water. For the mechanical parameters, we studied the mechanical performances such as the compressive strength, the tensile strength (bending and splitting). The results show that the RCC armed with fibers has good performances in terms of resistances and physical behaviour. The results obtained show the positive effect of the addition of the polypropylene fiber on the mechanical resistances, which increases about 23% for a proportioning of 1000 g/m 3 . For the physical properties, there is a decrease in the density and manoeuvrability and an increase in the absorption proportional with the addition of polypropylene. We have also seen the positive effect that the fiber have on the kinetics and extent of the shrinkage. The cumulative results watches optimum dosing with a quantity of 1000 g/m 3 of polypropylene, which provides excellent performance both physically and mechanically.
