Artificial Intelligence in Retinal Diseases

AI and machine learning are enabling enhanced screening and prognostication in retinal diseases specially DR and ROP. This advancement has the potential to increase the patient access to clinical care and reduce health care costs. This promising tool can benefit millions of patients in resource-deprived nations where direct access to ophthalmologists and retina specialists may be limited. In this chapter, various applications of AI in the field of retinal diseases are summarized. The potential limitations of AI and its future applications have also been discussed.
