FUNCTION EVALUATION OF THE EXTRINSIC WRIST LIGAMENTS USING A 3D BIOMECHANICAL MODEL

2008
Introduction Ligaments play a certain role in wrist joint stability. The extrinsic ligaments may either guide or limit motion. The anatomic configuration of the extrinsic ligaments is not necessarily a clue to their specific function. The questions addressed are (1) what is the function of the extrinsic ligaments and (2) how do they function within the whole mechanical system of the wrist? A two-body joint model was used to address these questions.
