Cooperative luminescence of Yb3+ ions of the ytterbium oxide porous surface

2020
Abstract This paper presents data on the occurrence of cooperative luminescence of Yb 3 + ions in the range of 670–720 nm in the three bands form when excited by IR radiation with a wavelength of 980 nm in the crystal structure of Yb 2 O 3 . It is established that these transitions corresponding to the one electronic state. It is shown that the quantum yield of red luminescence at room temperature is 0.38, that is 630 times higher than the quantum yield of ytterbium ions luminescence in the region of 1000 nm. The deactivation rate constant of red cooperative luminescence energy, lifetime, polarization and anisotropy were calculated. The influence of exciting radiation s- and p-polarization types on each emission band of red luminescence was established.
