Amicroprocessor Computational Modulehasbeendeveloped atL&N using theIntel 8008CPUchip. Programming theComputa- tional Module canbeeasily accomplished withanL&N developed interpretive high-evel langage. Thesoftwate fortheComputational Moduleconsists of23high- level commandswhichinclude input/output, datamanipulation, arithmetic, andprogramcontrol commands. A typical sequence of thesehigh-level instructions can,inaveryfewsteps, acquire the data inBCD form-at, convert themtofloating point binary format, perform complex arithmeti operations, convert theresults backto BCDformat, andoutput theresults forrecording ordisplay., Potential usesfortheComputational Module include themeasure- mentofdissolved oxygeninmolten steel, thedetermination of concentration ofconstituents inmoltenmetal, te calculation of vulcanization gradefortires, andotherindustrial dataprocessing applications.
