Estimates of genetic parameters and correlation analysis in Kalazeera [Bunium persicum (bioss.) Fedts.]

2019
Highly significant differences were observed for all traits except 1000-seed weight which showed non-significant variation. Phenotypic coefficients of variation were greater in magnitude over the respective genotypic coefficient of variation. High to moderate heritability coupled with high genetic advance was noticed for umbels plant−1 and seeds umbel−1 which provided the evidence that these traits were under the control of additive genetic effects, while rest of the traits exhibited variable trends. Seed yield (gm−2) was significantly and positively associated with all the studied traits except for biological yield at both phenotypic and genotypic levels. Hence, it was observed that indigenous accessions have great proportion of genetic variability, which can be manipulated in future breeding programs to fully utilize their genetic potential.
