Themechanismofpotentialtumorcellspreadduringlaparoscopyis poorlyunderstood. HT-29 cell line showed a short significant decrease in E Cadherin,CD44v6,ICAM-Iand/31-integrinexpressionafterCO 2exposure.Heliuminsufflation hadonlyinfluenceontheexpressionof/3l-integrin.Whetherthesechangesincreasethemetastatic potentialoftumorcellsinvivoneedsfurtherinvestigation.
