Towards CMOS-Compatible Negative-Index Metastructures

We design and analyze the optical properties of multilayered metal-dielectric fishnet metastructures using fullwave numerical simulations. We report negative refraction at the infrared spectral range with low loss. Most previous studies reported negative refraction in this range using stack fishnet design with either gold or silver metal. Our metastructure is made up of copper/SiO 2 /copper stack fishnet, which is CMOS-compatible and features losses comparable to those in metastructures utilizing noble metals.
