Using the strong magnetic field to promote the ignition process in Magneto-Inertial Fusion

2014
The fusion of magnetized plasma is a hot research topic in recent years, in which MIF (Magneto-Inertial Fusion) has been proposed to be an alternative approach to generate thermonuclear fusion power because it may significantly reduce the constructing cost and facility size. The remarkable character of MIF is to use the strong magnetic field, which is originally embedded within the preheated plasma and is subsequently compressed up to a several thousand Tesla during the implosion process while the facilitate compresses the heating plasma to reach the ignition condition.
