Application of Nominalization in English Translation of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Translation of Traditional Chinese Medicine( TCM translation) is of great significance during the internationalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Nevertheless,the problems in TCM translation are worthy of attention. In order to explore the feasibility of nominalization in TCM translation and suitable translation strategy,this paper adopts document investigation to analyze the present situation of TCM translation and finds that great attention from the fields of linguistics and translation should be paid to. Furthermore,through the research of nominalization both home and abroad,and with the examples of the application of nominalization in the translation of causes of disease、pathogenesis and diagnostics of TCM,it is found out that suitable application of nominalization could simplify sentence structure、enhance the density of information and improve the degree of formality of translation. However,excessive use of nominalization should be avoided.
