Culturing Nerve Cells and Tissues from Insects in Vitro
1985
The purpose of this chapter is to describe some of the more recent methods used to culture insect nerve cells and tissues in vitro. The techniques to be described are used to produce explant and dissociated cell cultures from various insects at various stages of development. The authors do not claim that this chapter represents an exhaustive survey of all the methods available for culturing in vitro insect neurones, rather we have set out to describe those techniques of which we have personal, developmental and experimental knowledge.
