Temperature Field Simulation of a Solenoidal Magnet Wound by ReBCO Tapes

2018
Superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) systems can store magnetic energy in superconducting magnets, and release the stored energy when required. As compared to other commercial energy storage systems like battery energy storage, the SMES is generally highlighted for fast response speed, high power density and high operational efficiency. This paper presents the temperature field distribution of a solenoidal magnet wound by ReBCO tapes to demonstrate the feasibility of the developed ReBCO magnet for the use in various high-current SMES applications.
