Integrating Cultural Responsiveness into Social Work Field Education Curriculum: Lessons from the Community

2020
Australian social work education is committed to embedding Indigenous knowledges in curriculum (AASW, 2020). Preparing students to become culturally responsive social workers is key to decolonising and Indigenising social work practice and education, which can ultimately build trust between social workers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. This chapter conveys the learning gained from an experience of social work placement supervision that was informed by two different but complementary education frameworks that promote learning about being culturally responsive in practice.
