CFD Simulation of Spray Drying with Ultrasonic Dispersion

This paper is dedicated to the development of mathematical model of spray drying with ultrasonic atomization. The developed model was implemented and solved numerically using ANSYS Fluent software. The main aim of the work was to build a model, which can be used for deep process investigation and obtaining extensive data about the process including drying kinetics of individual particles, what will allow process optimization and producing materials with controlled quality. The model was verified basing on a number of experiments with a laboratory scale drying equipment, what proved model’s applicability for the set up target. Several conclusions regarding the process features were made.
