Situation awareness for violence prevention on campuses

2014
The choice of appropriate actions by university administrators to prevent violence threat on campuses requires an in-depth understanding of the current situation. For an administrator to take an appropriate action to prevent an impending violence, an analysis of the situation is needed. The analysis consists of higher-level reasoning techniques to estimate the consequences for executing actions. This paper presents a work on campus violence prevention through situation awareness. The approach uses case-based reasoning to predict the evolution of the current violence and to select the appropriate action. Case-based reasoning (CBR) helps in using past experiences to assess situations for an impending violence.
