Empenho africano: Angola, Cabo Verde e Moçambique

The Association of Portuguese Language Universities (AULP) was created under circumstances that the First President of this association, Prof. AntonioSimoes Lopes, described it in the following terms: “In an environment of expectation (only the Brazilian and Portuguese delegates knew each other), some care, which the facts proved to be exaggerated, was used by the Portuguese delegation when advancing suggestions and proposals for the model to be instituted and for its actual institution. At the time, the extroverted character, always cheerful and in a good mood, even the “happy person” of the Brazilian delegation, who soon “broke the ice”, was worthwhile; and the organizational spirit based on the technical-legal knowledge of the then Dean of the Eduardo Mondlane University was also valid so that, of course, a draft Statutes would emerge that the participation of everyone made consensual acceptance and which would later adhere to, without the slightest difficulty, the Agostinho Neto University, absent at the Praia meeting. It was also worth the hospitable environment with which the Republic of Cape Verde welcomed us, in a framework that allowed a confirmatory assessment of the high cultural standards, well known, of our Portuguese-speaking country ”.
