EFFECTS OF HAEMATOPORPHYRIN Hg AND RADIATION ON GLYCOLYTIC ACTION IN HUMAN CANCEROUS TISSUE

1960
Glycolysis was significantly decreased in the irradiated cancer of a patient when the hematoporphyrin, or its complex Hg salt, existed in the tissue. That was confirmed in 41 cases of gastric, 11 cases of uterine, and 7 cases of breast cancer. As for the histological type of the cancer, inhibition of the glycolytic action was seen most considerably in carcinoma simplex, and was lowest in squamouscell cancer. The difference of values between these two was, however, less than 10%. (Abstr. Japan Med., 1: No. 5, May 1962).
