Resource person Dr Merera Baindur , Assistant Professor , MCPH has delivered a lecture on “Food and landscape in Indian tradition: Re thinking Ayurveda diet” Dr Meera has spoken about Indian philosophy of food and how humans transformed from the hunter forager to convenience based stockists. As described by Dr Meera, through the ayurvedic theory of food based on landscape, present day habitat is formed based on the olden day’s classification of geography as Anupa, Sadharana and Jungla. Anupa is the marshy and wet regions, where tribals lived where as lungala is the dry land where Aryans lived. This habitat classification has the direct impact on consumption of fruits, roots, animals, rice,dals, oils etc. She has also discussed food as medicine, how fire disassociate atoms and change properties,theory of Rasa and theory of Ayurveda cooking and diet .
