Fiqh Al-Muwazanat, Shura and Decision Making: Relationship and Its Implications on the Management of Islamic Organizations

The goal of organizational management in Islam is to safeguard the welfare and well-being of managers and employees in this world and the hereafter by acquiring things that bring benefits and repelling harm. Therefore, the ability to weigh maslahah(benefit) and mafsadah(harm) based on valid and clear methods is essential in finding solutions to each of the organizational problems that have emerged recently. This issue arises, especially when there is a problem that involves a contradiction between several maslahah, several mafsadahor between both that requires immediate consideration and solution to be implemented and practiced either in the context of shura and decision-making in an organization. Sequence of these problems, this study was conducted to examine fiqh al-Muwazanat(Islamic jurisprudence consideration), shura and decision making in the context of Islam and further analyze the relationship and implications of fiqh al-Muwazanat, shura and decision making according to the perspective of Islamic organizational management. The methodology of this study is qualitative in nature where data were collected based on secondary sources and analyzed using content analysis approach. The results of this study revealed that fiqh al-Muwazanatis one of the mechanisms in practicing shura and decision making and it has a close relationship with the management of Islamic organizations. The meeting point between fiqh al-Muwazanatand the management of Islamic organizations is contained in maqasid al-Shariah (Shariah goals) because the purpose of applying fiqh al-Muwazanatis to ensure that organizational management is in line with the demands of maqasid al-Shariah.Among the implications in applying fiqh al-Muwazanatis to make organizational management more relevant and more accurate to the situation and reality of Islamic management. Thus, it can encourage managers and employees to accept and respect the guidelines issued and can reunite Muslims from division, thereby rebuilding the Islamic civilization that has been lost due to the ummah’s indifference to what they need to prioritize. This study recommends that Muslim managers in organizations take into account the relationship and implications of fiqh al-Muwazanat, shura and decision making in managing the organization according to Islamic teachings.
