Synthesis and characterization of some mixed ligand oxovanadium(IV) complexes: the [LVO]+ chromophore, where L = hydrotris(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl)borate

Abstract The characterization of compounds LVOB, where B = β-diketonate or N,N-diethyldithiocarbamate, is reported. A comparison of their electronic absorption and ESR spectra with those of the corresponding VOB 2 complexes is made. The electronic structures of LVOB are closest to that of a trigonally-distorted octahedron, whilst VOB 2 are closest to that of a square-based pyramid.
