Research for Diffusion of the Polymer Deterrent in the Gun Propellant

2019
In this paper, the polymer deterrent NA (the polyester which is synthesized by condensation of binary acid and dihydric alcohol) is synthesized and its structures are characterized by proton magnetic resonance (1H NMR) and infrared radiation (IR). The deterrent propellants are prepared by two kinds of typical gun propellants with polymer deterrent NA through water pattern. The diffusion of NA in the propellants are investigated by the means of accelerated aging tests, closed-bomb tests and interior ballistic tests. The concentration profiles of deterrent NA in the propellants before and after long-term storage are also studied by Fourier transform infrared microspectroscopy (FTIR Microspectroscopy). Test data indicate that there aren’t obviously change between before and after long-term storage in the explosion heat, p-t curves, interior ballistic and the concentration profiles. The results show that the anti-diffusing ability of NA is better and NA is suitable for the long-term storage of two kinds of gun propellants. The propellant fabricated with polyester NA is of well stability in the interior ballistic.
