Research Topics for Practical Implementation of Structural Control
1987
To minimize the potential of catastrophic failures, many structures have been designed with redundant load paths. These structures with multiple load paths are said to be fail-safe. As an additional redundancy in safety considerations, the possible application of active control to civil engineering structures has been studied by many investigators during these past two decades.
