A digital parallel receiver with high data rate for 16-QAM system

2017
Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) is a high spectrum-utilized modulation scheme which is used extensively in digital microwave communication system. However, in QAM-based system, it is challenging to design a digital receiver with high data rate to detect signal, correct symbol-timing, and synchronize carrier effectively. In this paper, we propose a new parallel, all-digital based receiver for QAM system named HDR. This high data rate receiver is essentially a frequency-domain implementation of detection filtering and symbol-timing correction and is significantly easier to implement than the original serial receiver. Simulation results show that HDR is equivalent to both theoretical value and traditional serial receiver in terms of performance.
