Design and Analysis of Adjustable Flux Leakage Characteristics in IPM Synchronous Machine Based on Regression Orthogonal Method

In this paper, by adding an intentional leakage flux bridge between magnet poles in traditional IPM machine, a variable leakage flux interior permanent magnet (VLF-IPM) machine is proposed. According to the magnetic circuit model, the mechanism of variable flux leakage is explored by systematically analyzing the reasonable matching of d and q axis currents. Finally, the verification tests are respectively carried in a traditional IPM machine and a VLF-IPM machine to highlight the excellent speed variation performances causing by the variable leakage flux characteristic.
