The article discusses the influence of the external environment on the development of investment strategies of regional commercial banks. The author emphasizes basic types of factors and determines their impact in view of the features of small and medium-sized credit institutions. The focus of the author’s attention is the threat of the external environment and the opportunities which it creates for regional banks due to their specificity.
