Experience Of SSC RF RINR On Usage Of Uranium-Plutonium Oxide Fuel In Nuclear Reactors

Works on Pu involvement in the fast reactors fuel cycle have been carried out at RIAR since mid 70s. Development of production technologies for mixed fuel, fuel elements and fuel assemblies is the first stage of organizing the closed U-Pu fuel cycle of nuclear reactors. In contrast to traditional fuel cycle technologies, based on aqueous methods of fuel reprocessing and fuel elements fabrication with compact pelletized rod, the fuel cycle developed at RIAR is based on non-traditional technologies.
