The Future of Quality Assurance in Vietnamese Higher Education

This final chapter begins with a discussion of regional and global developments and innovations in quality assurance and opportunities for Vietnam. Furthermore, the results of this analysis suggest the implementation of professional accreditation to accredit specific programmes, for example, engineering, medicine and health. Third, this chapter argues for the diversity of national quality assurance arrangements and instruments. Fourth, methods for assuring the quality of distance education will be discussed. Fifth, this section focuses on building and implementing professional competency frameworks for internal quality assurance staff and external quality assurance practitioners. Moreover, the need to build and promote a quality culture inside Vietnamese higher education institutions is highlighted. Additionally, international partnership is part of Vietnam’s quality assurance development. The final section argues that implementing full independence and autonomy for the national quality assurance organisation and accrediting agencies is vitally important to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s quality assurance system.
