An environment detection device comprises a spherical casing, a power supply module, a data acquisition module, a control module, a life detection module and a device drive module, wherein the power supply module, the data acquisition module and the control module are arranged in the spherical casing. The life detection module is used for detecting life information in the default range of the position of the environment detection device. The control module is used for judging whether life bodies exist according to the life information. If life bodies do not exist, the power supply module is controlled to power the device drive module and stops powering the data acquisition module. The device drive module is used for driving the spherical casing to move out of the default range after power on. According to the invention, the environment detection device smoothly reaches a needed destination to carry out effective data collection; the effectiveness and the efficiency of emergency rescue work can be improved; the power supply module can be effectively controlled; and energy loss is significantly reduced.
