Preliminary results on the relationship between the spark characteristics and the engine efficiency

1995
Comparative results are presented for a nonconventional electric spark (increased discharge duration and energy) and a conventional electric spark. The study was carried out in an experimental constant volume cell and with an one-cylinder engine, on a test bed. With a favourable correlation between the fuel-air ratio and the spark characteristics, an improvement of the fuel conversion efficiency up to 20%, as well as a better coefficient of variability, were obtained.
