The invention discloses a method and device for generating information. The method includes the steps: acquiring a geographic information point sequence set and an identifier set which is formed by the identifier of each geographic information point sequence in the geographic information point sequence set; regarding each geographic information point sequence in the geographic information point sequence set, clustering geographic information points in each geographic information point sequence, and generating element sequences corresponding to the geographic information point sequences; by the adoption of a machine learning method, on the basis of the identifier set and the generated element sequences, obtaining a matrix regarding various identifiers in the identifier set through learning; for each identifier in the identifier set, on the basis of the identifier and the matrix, generating information of a user whom the geographic information point sequence indicated by the identifier belongs to. By the adoption of the method for generating the information, the purpose is achieved that the highly targeted information is generated.
