Broken strands monitroing of transmission lines by vibration signal analyzing

In this paper., a broken strands detection method by vibration signal analyzing is proposed. The change of dynamic response of ACSR's structure reflected the change of ACSR's structure. Broken strands monitoring system., composed of acceleration sensor., condition monitoring device and monitoring center., is designed in this paper. Further., modal experiment is carried out. We use the shaker to provide a vibration range 10 Hz to 100 Hz making the ACSR vibrated. The vibration acceleration signal is processed by filtering., PSD analysis and frequency response function analysis. The results show that the natural frequencies of conductor decreases obviously after breaking a strand. Some of the natural frequencies which changed more obviously decreased by 4.8%., meaning that it is feasible to detected broken strands by natural frequencies. (Abstract)
