Turing pattern formation in a two-layer system: superposition and superlattice patterns.
2004
Turing patterns in the chlorine dioxide–iodine–malonic acid reaction are studied in a system consisting oftwo coupled gel layers. Patterns with two wavelengths are observed. Changing the strength of the interlayercoupling causes a transition between a superposition of Turing patterns and a superlattice pattern. The effectsof the reactant concentrations on the pattern wavelengths are delineated.DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevE.70.046219 PACS number(s): 89.75.Kd, 82.40.CkI. INTRODUCTION
